Joseph Land
Joseph Land’s journey began with a deep love for baseball and a dream of playing professionally. Drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, his path seemed set until a torn rotator cuff unexpectedly changed his course. Reflecting on that turning point, he often says, “I had a dream to play professional baseball, only to have to find a new dream. And to show you that God has a sense of humor, He put me in the transportation business.”
Embracing the challenge, Mr. Land shifted his focus to entrepreneurship and founded The Joseph Land Group, Inc., a time-temperature refrigerated transportation and logistics company. Starting from the ground up, he worked to grow the business over the next 25 years, ultimately reaching $179 million in annual sales. At its peak, the company operated 23 offices, managed a fleet of 1,500 trucks, and provided jobs for over 2,000 people. Along the way, it gained national recognition for its impact within the industry.
His experience in navigating challenges and building businesses has shaped his approach to leadership. Today, as Chairman of JL Capital, Mr. Land remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs, helping them access the tools and resources needed to strengthen and grow their companies.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he served as Captain of the USC baseball team, an early testament to his dedication and leadership. He now resides in Charleston, South Carolina, with his wife, Jennifer, and is a proud father of eight and grandfather to seven.
